This course is designed as undergraduate introduction to social demography and population studies. Using sociological lens to facilitate the understanding of the interaction between social and
demographic forces. We start with an introduction to basic concepts and data issues in
demography. We then cover the study of three basic population processes: fertility,
mortality and migration. Other selected topics include family demography, population
composition and structure, population aging, and the intersection among population,
policy, and environment.
