This course is designed to equip students in the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) program with the essential Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPCK) required to effectively teach Social Studies to diverse learners in the primary grades. Emphasis will be placed on local history and culture, which are integral components of the Araling Panlipunan curriculum, alongside appropriate teaching strategies and assessment methods. Moreover, elementary pre-service teachers will engage in authentic and experiential learning activities such as preparing contextualized instructional materials, facilitating classroom discussions, identifying and utilizing relevant Social Studies resources, and planning and delivering lessons to an entire class. The course will be delivered in a flexible lecture format. To demonstrate their learning, students are expected to craft lesson plans, develop instructional materials (IMs) on the assigned lesson, and conduct demonstration teaching sessions.
