This course highlights the teaching of English as a second language with a primary focus on the utilization of the approaches, strategies, and techniques to improve knowledge of the structure and fluency in the English language through the five macro skills namely: listening, reading, speaking, writing, and viewing. The course allows students to explore the various instructional technologies and research-based principles that aid in the enhancement of language teaching methodologies.
Teaching English in Elementary Grades (Language Arts) is one of the courses included in the Bachelor of Elementary Education as prescribed in the CHED Memo no. 74 s. 2017 under the BEEd curriculum. It is intended for second-year college students. It follows a lecture type in a flexible format. Students are expected to demonstrate their learning by writing a lesson exemplar that incorporates all their takeaways from the course and teaching demonstrations.
