This 3-unit course focuses on child and adolescent development with emphasis on current research and theory on biological, linguistic, cognitive, social, and emotional dimensions of development. Further, this includes factors that affect the progress of development and shall include appropriate pedagogical principles applicable for each developmental level.
This course is taught in a lecture format. Students are expected to demonstrate content mastery in the elements that influence learners' developmental progress as well as relevant pedagogical concepts applicable to each developmental level of the learners. The course also covers laws, rules, standards, and procedures for creating safe and secure learning environments, as well as the use of positive and nonviolent discipline in learner behavior management.
