The course introduces the student to the features and the interactions in and between the lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and the biosphere. Being an integral part of the Environmental Science curriculum, this course includes topics on the relationship of human activity to Earth features, particularly on those processes that are altered by those that cause a threat to man.
After completion of the course, the student must be able to:
- Discuss the concept of the creation of the universe and the earth as a habitable planet
- Discuss the internal and external processes that shape the Earth.
- Explain and discuss the different resources of the earth
- Discuss the human activities impacts on utilizing Earth resources, the activity that contributes global climate change and mitigation measures to minimized environmental impacts.
There are 6 major topics to be tackled in this course, namely:
- Origin and Structure of the Earth
- Internal Process (endogenic process) that shape the Earth
- External process (exogenic process) that shape the Earth
- Earth Materials
- Earth Resources
- The Earth and Human Activity
