The Information Management course deals with the entire information lifecycle. The lifecycle starts from information identification and collection, storage, distribution, archiving, and destruction, encompassing all physical and electronic data collected from its customers or clienteles, students or employees, and vendors.  The course includes database design, data modeling, SQL, and relational database system implementation to manage information throughout its lifecycle in physical storage/disks. There will be relevant legal topics to be included concerning Information Management in the context of RA. 10173 The Data Privacy Act (DPA), The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), and The Freedom of Information Act


After completion of the course, the student must be able to:

  • Analyze an existing database system with respect to quality issues.
  • Design a database based on user requirements using a widely used modeling notation, and be able to use declarative query language to elicit information.


The course will utilize the University’s masaoLMS as a platform to distribute the lectures and activities. 


The course will utilize video conferencing applications such as Microsoft Teams and Google Meet for online class discussion or consultation. The Facebook Group page and chat will be utilized to disseminate announcements and cater inquiries.
