This course covers the quantitative and qualitative methods for conducting research: undergraduate research proposal preparation, problem formulation, literature review, measurement issues, sampling, research design, data gathering and analysis, research project management, and research output dissemination. It is designed to provide students with the practical tools of doing research and the theoretical background for critiquing and designing research on matters concerning the mining industry. It emphasizes the link between the developments of a research question towards addressing problems in the engineering field.
