The course provides an overview of environmental planning and management in the Philippines. It will prepare and equip the students with decision-making and expert practitioner skills to contribute to delivering appropriate solutions to various environmental problems. Students will recall basic environmental science and ecological concepts related to other topics like environmental planning and management in the country, ecological threats and existing mechanisms, laws and policies, and an introduction to environmental planning.
The course delivery will combine lectures through online platforms, online group collaboration, and self-directed learning through prepared lecture materials, localized multimedia tutorials, and online links. The instructor will post these materials and the learning assessment on the university's online platform. The specific topics in this course have corresponding classwork like quick response posts, short quizzes, individual or group presentations of issues, class discussions, and case study searches. A significant course requirement is for the students to develop an environmental management plan addressing contemporary ecological concern. Students can complete and present this individually or in groups.
Knowledge obtained from this course will connect to completing other environmental science courses. In the future, the graduates will be fit for employment in the broad field of environmental protection.
