This course covers the principles of classical thermodynamics. Understanding of mass, energy, heat, work, efficiency, ideal and real thermodynamic cycles and processes are developed in this course. The basic knowledge of this course is of great importance for agricultural and biosystems engineers towards efficient system development. ME 100 consists of 54 hours lecture covering the basics of the first and second laws of thermodynamics, perfect gas law, properties of real gases, power cycles, and the general energy equation for closed and open systems that are useful in engineering practice.
