MALT 203 Problems in Conversational English is designed to enhance graduate students’ competencies of understanding conversation as a route to understanding language in social life. It delves into the complexities of spoken language and communication within various social contexts. Students will explore the principles of conversation analysis and its application in understanding fundamental structures of conversation. The course addresses key issues and perspectives in conversation analysis and investigates its implications in different contexts. Moreover, students will examine the impact of multilingualism and plurilingualism on conversation analysis, leading towards fostering intercultural competence in a globalized world.
