This is an undergraduate-level course that provides the basics of
biodiversity conservation, related sciences, management strategies for various
ecosystems, inventory, and monitoring for a comprehensive strategy to protect
and restore the full spectrum of the Philippine Biodiversity. It involves a discussion
of biodiversity principles and integration of basic biological concepts on
diversity at the species, genetic, and ecosystem levels, and their
socio-economic relevance. Moreover, the course is also designed to introduce
the students in an integrative manner to the Philippine Biodiversity especially
to the Mindanao and Caraga biodiversity status, issues, threats and management
tools. This will also explore the concept
of Sustainability science and how it applies to the field of Biodiversity
Conservation Management.
