This course offers a critical discussion of contemporary social issues in the Philippines using sociological theories, perspectives, and social science research methods. The course also aims to help students understand the basic concepts of sociology that would contribute toward the awareness and 

clearer understanding of the social conditions that are perceived as social problems. Current issues and social problems experienced by Filipinos will let the students realize that said problems are capable of solutions through the collective action of the country's citizens.

 

This subject will examine social issues such as population problems, poverty, juvenile delinquency, crime, etc. The students are also expected to make a research paper about social issues observed in the community, spousing the sociological concepts and theories in analyzing the data.
