This course is designed for undergraduate Biology students and presents an introduction to core concepts in evolutionary biology. This course focuses on the historical perspective of evolutionary thinking and theory, evidences and mechanisms of evolution, evolution of biological diversity i.e., microbial life, plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates, and biogeography.

 

Special topics are focused on evolutionary processes on an model island archipelago i.e., Philippines and human migration and dispersal to the Philippines. In this course, paper discussions are  incorporated to facilitate robust interaction and exchange of ideas about core concepts and principles in evolutionary biology.
