Morphology is a broader term than anatomy since it includes not only the study of structure but also the origin of structure in terms of its embryology and evolution of animals.

 

General objectives:

At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:

 

1.   understand the outline of characteristics on which the modern system of classification of chordates is based.

2.   give a general view of each of the five classes of vertebrates – fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

3.   comprehend the structural basis of biology, to advance human health.

4.   understand the principles of form and the concepts of evolution.

5.   develop a functional knowledge of the gross anatomy of the human body systems and an introduction to cellular and developmental anatomy is included.

6.   visualize in outline form the different anatomical concepts.

7.   remember better and appreciate more the study of comparative anatomy.
