The course is designed to provide knowledge in environmental managementdesign, and rehabilitation of mines

After completion of the course, the student must be able to:

1. Assess the various environmental impacts brought about by mining operations and production, and mineral processing and tailings disposal

2. Explain the social and environmental responsibilities that are essential to future mining engineers.

3. Formulate mitigation measures, monitoring plans, and best practices for the environmental management of a mining operation.

This course is composed of 3-unit lecture with a total of 54 contact hours.

Pre-requisites are: Principles of Mining, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Management
