The Internship Program attempts to foster the transfer of knowledge and provide an avenue for the 4th Year AB Sociology students to experience R&D-related activities with the overall aim of promoting increased capacity building. Furthermore, internships may help interns focus their specialization interests and expose them to different research skills and techniques that they may be learning for the first time. It is a planned and structured people services initiative that facilitates short-term in sharing technical knowledge, expertise, and skills in the assigned area of practice of the project personnel. An internship entails full-time work to 54 rendered hours directed and evaluated with appropriate supervision by a faculty assigned. Specifically, Practicum 24 is a 3-unit elective course offered for incoming 4th-year students. This involves on-the-job training as research assistants in different research projects in the department and college (CHaSS). The internship program should have the potential to spark activity or catalyze action and significantly impact interns. Simultaneously, it should have clear goals of what the interns will accomplish.
