This course emphasizes fundamental chemical concepts and inorganic structures. Topics to be discussed include: atomic and molecular structure; the periodic table and periodicity; chemical bonding; thermochemistry; kinetics and reaction rates, chemical equilibrium, acid-base and solubility equilibria; and basic thermodynamics.
Electrochemistry, nuclear chemistry and the descriptive chemistry of the representative elements may be introduced as optional enrichment topics to advanced students.
