The course focuses on the intensive analysis of sex-gender differentiation and theories of gender inequality (of women's subordination). This course is also an examination of everyday life relations and the changing economic, social, and political conditions of men and women that bring to the fore gender disparities and inequalities. Stress is placed on current issues emanating from unequal gender relations and other women's concerns in the development context.  This course will also tackle some of the gender-related laws implemented in the Philippines and how these laws facilitated gender mainstreaming in development projects and programs.

This course will promote gender sensitivity and equality in the development processes. Thus, this subject aims to influence students to change their perceptions, attitudes, and values towards males and females.

The students are expected to mainstream gender and development through organizing training/seminars and creating IEC materials that advocates  gender sensitivity and equality.
