Herpetology is the scientific study of amphibians and reptiles (herps). It is a 5-unit course that will tackle the origin, evolution, systematics, taxonomy, ecology, and conservation of amphibians and reptiles or herpetofauna. The course will examine global diversity of frogs, salamanders, caecilians, lizards, tuataras, snakes, turtles and crocodilians but there will be a special emphasis in the laboratory and field components of this class on the diverse herpetofauna of the Philippines. Our country is probably one of the best habitats for amphibians and reptiles.
