This course trains students the basic skills necessary for any field-based geological investigation. This course will provide students with opportunities to develop skills in field measurements in a variety of geological settings, stratigraphy, fossil identification, sedimentary logging and rock description that they can apply to geological mapping of landscapes, and that would help them become proficient in the field. Students will put into use the knowledge and skills gained in their first-year geology units, see them in context, and apply them in a field setting. Students will describe outcrops seen in two field days.
