This is a graduate course designed to train the students to be research capable in the field of aquatic ecology. It will examine the characteristics of water as habitat for diversity of organisms. The ecological components in various ecosystems from freshwater, brackish water, and marine environments are elaborated in tropical conditions. The scope of the investigation will primarily deal with aquatic ecosystems in Caraga region and Philippine aquatic settings. Field works are simulated activities espousing sampling techniques and data gathering as part of special problems in the course. Students will be trained to analyze their data and produce written outputs in scientific article formats. The students would be able to design research frameworks and identify research gaps. Exposure to drafting of research proposals and submissions to funding agencies in a collaborative group will prepare them in future careers.
