This course focuses on the principles, development, and utilization of alternative forms of assessment in measuring, monitoring, and evaluating authentic learning and communicating its results. It emphasizes how to assess process- and product-oriented learning outcomes as well as affective learning. The graduate students will experience how to design, develop, select, and use rubrics for authentic assessment tools for performance-based and product-based assessment. The course further addresses how to provide

accurate and constructive feedback to improve instruction and learner performance. Moreover, the course aimed that the graduate students would develop critical thinking on designing an authentic assessment for a specified context or type of students they encountered or will be encountered in the future for preparation. The research skills will be further enhanced through conducting a meta-analysis and meta synthesis of the related studies and articles about authentic assessments in relation to the learning performances of the students.
